Introducing TaxMarg — AI-Powered CA Workspace

TaxMarg is the first AI platform built specifically for Indian Chartered Accountants. Upload documents, get cited answers grounded in 22 tax databases, draft notice replies, and run guided workflows — all in one workspace.

After months of building, testing, and iterating with practicing CAs across India, we are launching TaxMarg — the AI platform designed from the ground up for Indian tax professionals.

Why We Built TaxMarg

Every CA we spoke to described the same workflow: open a notice, search through bare acts on incometaxindia.gov.in, cross-reference circulars, check case law on SCC Online, and then draft a reply in Word. This process takes hours, sometimes days, for a single notice.

We asked: what if an AI could do the research in seconds, and every answer came with verified citations back to the source provision?

What TaxMarg Does

TaxMarg is not a chatbot that happens to know some tax law. It is a purpose-built workspace with four core capabilities:

1. Knowledge Research

Ask any question about Indian tax law. TaxMarg searches across 22 acts, thousands of circulars and notifications, and the complete IT Act 2025 with old-to-new section mapping. Every answer includes clickable citations to the source provision.

2. Vault-Based Workspaces

Create a vault for each client. Upload their documents — notices, Form 16, GSTR returns, financial statements. TaxMarg extracts and summarizes every document using multimodal AI. When you ask questions in a vault, the AI considers both the law and the client's specific documents.

3. Guided Workflows

Run structured, multi-step workflows for common tasks:

  • ITR Preparation — 5-step guided workflow that researches applicable provisions at each step
  • Notice Response — 4-step workflow from notice analysis to draft reply with citations

4. GST Reconciliation

Upload GSTR-2B, GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, and purchase/sales registers. TaxMarg matches invoices automatically using fuzzy matching and flags mismatches with categorized explanations.

The Knowledge Base

TaxMarg's RAG pipeline searches over 41,201 indexed provisions across:

  • Income-tax Act 2025 (and Act 1961 for pre-April 2026 matters)
  • IT Rules 2026 with old-to-new mapping
  • CBDT Circulars and Notifications
  • GST Act, Rules, and Notifications
  • 15+ DTAAs
  • Finance Bills and Budget Memoranda

Every provision includes metadata: effective year, topic tags, act reference, and section number. The knowledge graph connects related provisions with 17 relationship types across 28,000+ nodes.

How Citations Work

This is non-negotiable: every claim in a TaxMarg answer must cite a specific provision. The system retrieves source documents, generates an answer with inline citations, and then validates that every cited doc_id exists in the retrieved set. If a citation cannot be verified, it is removed. We never hallucinate legal references.
